At Gleeds we believe in making a difference. It’s what we’ve been doing for over a century. It’s our heritage, our commitment, and our responsibility.

We’re proud of the positive change we’ve already made to the communities we work in, and the Gleeds Foundation reinforces that commitment, focuses our charitable giving under one purpose and aims to make a tangible impact.

What’s the purpose?

The purpose of the Gleeds Foundation is to support young people to make positive changes in their lives. We believe every young person deserves to succeed in life. So, together with our charity partners, the Foundation will create opportunities for young people to successfully shape their future, building their skills, confidence and resilience.

With a staggering number of young people now unemployed, experiencing mental health challenges or fighting the impact of deprivation, there’s plenty of work to be done. There are so many charities helping young people overcome barriers like these, and the Gleeds Foundation wants to play a part in that important work and be part of the solution.

How will it work?

As a separate entity to the business, the Gleeds Foundation has been structured to be independent, flexible and ready to give back. Each year, the Foundation will award grants to two chosen charities who demonstrably create opportunities for young people aged 12-25 years old. We are happy to share that this year we will be supporting the charities; Resurgo and the Wilderness Foundation UK

Our people play a key role in the Gleeds Foundation. Nominations for charities eligible for grant funding come from Gleeds employees, and our Steering Group is responsible for, reviewing and shortlisting charities.

In the first year, grants will be made to UK based charities, but the Foundation’s remit will look to expand globally over the coming years.

At Gleeds, we always want to encourage local community fundraising, so we will also match fund our employees’ fundraising efforts through the Foundation.

The Gleeds Foundation marks the next chapter of our story as a socially responsible business, one in which we can make an even greater impact to our communities and for the issues that matter to us.  We believe that every young person deserves to succeed in life. Together with our charity partners, the Gleeds Foundation will create opportunities for young people to successfully shape their future, building their skills, confidence and resilience.
