The prestigious shopping centre is located in the immediate vicinity of Wiesbaden’s central station and the city centre’s main access road. Originally opened in 2007, it supplements the city’s principal shopping streets and also serves as a focal point for customers from the wider surrounding area.
In order to make the shopping centre more attractive, improve the exterior and interior infrastructure and optimise shop layouts, revitalisation works on the shopping centre began in 2016.
To accommodate the expectations of customers and tenants the dominant architectural style was modified by the restructuring of routing and sight lines and the implementation of lifts and escalators, particularly a travellator access from the large underground car park to the ground floor.
In addition to a new entrance hall and atrium, the tenant mix was adjusted from a fashion-dominated assortment to an increasingly convenience-led hybrid mall, providing the full-range retailer REWE, a discount supermarket ALDI and other retailers. A food court is established to extend the functionality of the center and realign it to the requirements of the surrounding office and hotel users.
To enable both tenants and customers to enjoy continuous operation during the extensive renovation works, these were carried out during the shopping centre’s ongoing operations. For this purpose, existing tenants were temporarily transferred to different rental areas, and the construction work was carried out in shifts.
