Autumn Statement 2016: what does it all really mean?

In his first (and last) Autumn Statement, new Chancellor of the Exchequer Phillip Hammond, described the vote to leave the EU as presenting both opportunities and challenges.

There is going to be a period of economic uncertainty as the UK negotiates its departure from the EU, compounded by inflation and the budget deficit, but it’s not necessarily cause for concern just yet.

The Productivity Plan to encourage long-term economic investment across the country, coupled with local devolution deals, provides some good prospects for the construction market…providing the industry has enough skilled labour to deliver.
