A night under the stars for Nottingham director in aid of community projects
Anthony Cork, director for Gleeds, will be giving up his bed for the night as he takes part in Nottingham’s first ever ‘CEO Sleepout’ to raise funds for homeless and disadvantaged people.
Notts County Football in the Community (FITC) and Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club’s Trent Bridge Community Trust (TBCT), have teamed up with charity CEO Sleepout to organise the fundraising event, which will take place at Notts County football ground on 13th October.
Nearly 90 senior professionals from local businesses will descend on Meadow Lane to spend the evening sleeping rough, not only to raise funds for worthy causes but to help raise awareness of homeless and disadvantaged people.
Anthony is hoping to raise at least £1,000 for projects run by FITC, TBCT and local homeless charities Emmanuel House and The Friary.
Anthony said: “This is a fantastic initiative where CEO’s and senior managers are asked to step outside of their comfort zone to get a first-hand experience of what it means to be homeless and I’m proud to be taking part.
“I think we are all guilty of taking our home comforts for granted and it’s refreshing to be involved in an event like this that needs my time and commitment rather than just donated funds.
“Nottingham has always had a very social and charitable businesses community and I hope we can do our city proud by raising much needed money for these great causes.”
On the evening, participants will meet at Meadow Lane where they will enjoy an evening meal together before rolling out their sleeping bags in the concourse or pitch-side (weather dependent), from 11pm to 6am.
CEO Sleepout was set up to improve the lives of people battling with homelessness and has led a number of high-profile events throughout the country at major sporting grounds, such as St James’ Park and Lords. So far, over 560 executives throughout the UK have raised £791,000 for homeless causes.
