6 steps to make MIPIM a success!

With 5 days to go until MIPIM, are you ready to take on the world’s largest property and real estate conference? Gleeds business development director, Gary Church, shares his personal hints and tips to make this year’s trip to the sunny shores of Cannes the most successful one yet.

1.     Plan your week

With an estimated 21,000 professionals in Cannes over 4 days, it’s imperative to plan you week and use your time to best effect. Know which events are taking place on each day and if you can, who will be in attendance by getting in touch beforehand. That way you won’t waste any precious time at the wrong events. Don’t forget to book meetings in with your key contacts to avoid disappointment.


2.     Don’t follow the crowd

Be sure to attend the events that are going to be the most beneficial to your business, not just the ones that seem like they will be the most fun! Unfortunately, you won’t be able to go to everything, so consider the events most relevant to your area of expertise.


3.     Be prepared

Be sure to do your research before you board the plane to Cannes. Consider what your clients will be looking to discuss with you and what their priorities are. Don’t forget your business cards for any new contacts you make during the week.


4.     Stand out

With so many people in attendance at MIPIM, delegates meet more people per day than they can count. Make sure your clients remember who you are, what you can do for them and why you are different to others in your field.


5.     Be co-ordinated

And I’m not talking about your outfit! Liaise with your colleagues and co-ordinate your meetings accordingly. Be sure to put the right person, in front of the right contact, at the right event.


6.     Follow up

Whether you made new contacts at MIPIM, or caught up with some old faces it’s imperative to follow up with them by phone, email or in person once you get home. Don’t let all your hard work over the course of the week go to waste, just because you left it to long to follow up.
