The Bid Manager is expected to manage complex bids and to provide support to less complex bids where appropriate. This role is also responsible for the supervision and development of staff and development of good practice within the local Corporate Bid Hub.

The Bid Manager supports the business by planning and managing the bid response process and delivering documents in line with the company`s brand. The focus of this role is to manage the response process and engage with all parts of the business to ensure a professional, compliant and compelling proposal is submitted. The role involves project managing the response and bid writing.

As a manager in the Corporate Bid Team the individual is expected to develop win strategies and bid plans and bring ideas and fresh thinking to the department.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Management of a team of bid professionals on a day to day basis
  • Responsible for the timely planning, management and completion of the allocated sections of bid submissions;
  • Responsible for organising the review of the submissions against client requirements;
  • Planning, writing and co-ordinating bid responses;
  • Compiling, updating and maintaining a library of company standard tender documentation;
  • Maintaining records relating to submissions and successes;
  • Build internal and external relationships with individuals associated with the bid process in order to create quality bids;
  • Develop a creative approach to the writing and presentation of bids;
  • Reviewing bid submissions for quality and accuracy;
  • Identifying opportunities to enhance and improve the process, whilst sharing best practice with the team;
  • Have a clear understanding and interpretation of the questions within the pre-qualification questionnaire and tender documents;
  • Be able to construct relevant answers which clearly answer the clients question and portray the company in the best possible light;
  • Ensure accuracy and up to date information is placed in all tender and pre-qualification questionnaire documents;
  • Ensure the quality of the response meets the company standards

Key skills:

  • Minimum three years` experience in bidding;
  • An understanding of professional service and/or the building/property industry preferred;
  • Demonstrable project management experience;
  • Line management experience will be viewed as an advantage (desirable);
  • Ability to demonstrate experience successfully managing bids generating over £250k fee revenue or with a value of over £15m construction cost (Gold);
  • Experience of contributing to bids generating over £1m fee revenue or with a value of over £100m construction cost (Platinum);
  • Ability to demonstrate creativity and innovation through the production of bespoke Client documentation;
  • Ability to plan and execute bid planning workshops with multiple attendees.
  • An enthusiastic, passionate and determined bid professional;
  • Be exceedingly ambitious, and integrate easily within a team;
  • Willing to adapt quickly to the company`s culture and way of working;
  • Superb business acumen and a proven track record of success, having worked on sizable bids;
  • Should be a team player and have excellent communications skills;
  • Work on your own initiative, and to an exceedingly high quality;
  • Able to work to tight deadlines in high pressure situations;
  • Possess strong organisational and project management skills;
  • Skilled in editing copy to correct grammar, spelling and punctuation and ability to edit copy to standard and style;
  • Skilled to manage delivery through direct reports and colleagues, including technical employees at all levels, bid colleagues, and external suppliers;
  • Skilled in supervising employees, to include delegating responsibility, training and evaluating performance;
  • Strong Microsoft Office Suite, with exceptional Word and PowerPoint formatting skills and Excel numeracy and formula understanding;
  • Adobe Design Package experience will have an advantage.
